The UFC lost one of their biggest stars from, arguably, their biggest card of the year. UFC 230 is set to go down next month on pay-per-view from Madison Square Garden. The event goes down live on November 3, 2018 in New York City. The main event for the show was shuffled several times.

However, Nate Diaz vs. Dustin Poirier was penciled in as the co-main event from the very beginning. Many fans wanted the promotion to bump Diaz up to the main event and implement a new 165-pound title. Instead, a UFC heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Derrick Lewis will headline the show.
That’s certainly a massive main event, however, in turn, the UFC lost the match-up between Diaz and Poirier. Poirier was forced off the card due to an undisclosed injury. Diaz isn’t sitting around waiting for a last-second opponent and was removed from the card as a result. Diaz hasn’t fought in two years since losing to Conor McGregor via controversial majority decision.
MMA fans are going to have to wait a bit longer before witnessing Diaz’s highly-anticipated Octagon return.
We will also speak about the back-to-back Bellator cards this weekend, headlined by the Bellator Heavyweight World Heavyweight Grand Prix semifinals. Ryan Bader vs. Matt Mitrione goes down Friday at Bellator 207 and Chael Sonnen vs. Fedor Emelianenko is at Bellator 208 on Saturday. Marc is in New York for both cards.
If there’s time, we can chat about PFL 9, which features the light heavyweight and lightweight division playoffs, as well as PFL 8 from last week, which had some surprising results.
